I had a, um, rural experience here in Tennessee the other day.
I was in a Wal-Mart, trying to exchange my conditioner (bought a color treated one when I meant to buy a curls conditioner.)
I checked my old one in with the people greeter up front, and asked where I should exchange it at.
She pointed down to the other end of the store and said, and I quote,
"It's above the bank."
I, surprised that a WM had a second floor, asked how to get upstairs.
She, became flustered and said,
"No, it's there, above the bank."
Uh....
So I asked again where the stairs were and she replied with a
"No, sweetheart, it's there, above the bank and above the hair salon."
I craned my neck around and saw the Customer Service sign BEYOND the bank.
I think that people greeter needed to go back to 2nd grade and get a little lesson in prepostions, ha! Beyond, past, next to, all would have been appropriate.
But ABOVE?!
It made me chuckle and reminded me where I was!

That's just fabulous...poor, poor Wal-mart people greeter!
LOL! I love how you described this as a "rural" experience. Some people you have to wonder about, bless their hearts!
Seriously?! LOL Oh the joys of going to WalMart.
above, about, after, against, along, among, around, as, at
that's what i remember about prepositions....and that i use them way too often.
It is quite hysterical that she kept saying above....oh the misspeakers of the world!
Oh, that would be confusing!
LOL! I think I can honestly say that I have never heard the word "above" used that way before! I would have been super confused too
